Someone asked about the technique I used outdoors today (Saturday May 9th) on this painting. I tried something a bit different today and I figured it would be nice to post it, as long as I can say on the front end, take everything with a grain of salt. As my friend and mentor, T. The limited palette is everything! Zorn used mainly White, Black, Yellow Ochre, and Red. Talk about limited, but the results are amazing. I have been using this lately: Permalba White Lamp/Mars Black Cadmium Yellow Medium Raw Umber Pretty darn limited? You would be surprised at how versatile it is. Of course, I always put a touch of Red and Blue in my Black to keep it lustrous and velvety, and not paste-like matte. Green of course is made with Black and Cad.
